No Wonder Dr. Arthur is Regarded as the Father of Alternative Medicine in Ghana – Dr. Ernest Asante Declares
April 17, 2025
Dr. Ernest Asante, a renowned homeopathic doctor and President of the Ghana Homeopathic Medical Association, has publicly declared Dr. Albert Arthur as the undisputed father of alternative medicine in Ghana.
Speaking during a recent virtual meeting organized by the Ghana Alternative Medical Practitioners Association (GAMPA) to deliberate on the legal framework surrounding alternative medicine in Ghana, Dr. Asante commended Dr. Arthur for his pioneering role in shaping the practice.
“After listening to the rich historical context and the journey Dr. Arthur has taken over the decades to institutionalize alternative medicine in Ghana, I have no doubt that he rightly deserves the title as the father of alternative medicine in the country,” Dr. Asante stated.
The event, which brought together several key practitioners in the alternative medicine space, became a reflective moment for many. Participants were taken aback by the depth of knowledge and sacrifice Dr. Arthur shared during his presentation on the origins and legal battles that surrounded the early development of alternative medicine in Ghana.
“Many of us had the wrong perception about Dr. Arthur,” one participant admitted. “But after listening to him and understanding the ordeals he endured to bring the practice to this level, I felt a deep sense of regret for being misinformed.”
Some practitioners even offered public apologies to Dr. Arthur during the session, acknowledging that previous misconceptions had clouded their understanding of his contributions.
Dr. Arthur, who has been instrumental in advocating for the formal recognition and regulation of alternative medical practices in Ghana, expressed appreciation for the gesture and emphasized the need for unity among practitioners to further the cause of holistic health in the country.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for collaboration among stakeholders to strengthen the legal and institutional foundation of alternative medicine in Ghana, ensuring it gains the recognition and respect it deserves within the national healthcare framework.
